Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct for K.W. Tango events
The volunteers of K.W. Tango provide events for positive experiences for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion or lack thereof.
We value your attendance and community.
Conduct
At our events, we do not tolerate:
-
violence or threats of violence,
-
persistent unwanted attention toward any person,
-
hatred or adverse discrimination,
-
dangerous practices while dancing.
We may sanction participants doing these things. We may expel participants or summarily cancel the event, at our sole discretion, without refunds for any participant.
To report behaviour contrary to this code of conduct, speak to an event organizer. We will help participants contact venue security or law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.
Floorcraft
Practice in the centre of the floor, make figures at the corners, hold conversations at the sides.
Line of dance: form and keep to lanes as necessary. Make eye contact with oncoming dancers to enter a lane.
While dancing music plays, make reasonable progress when space permits.
Do not crowd the dancers in front, do not distract the dancers behind. No backsteps into other dancers.
Employ and watch for cabeceo. Ask in person only those dancers you know well.
“Thank you” ends the tanda.
